Designing a new heating system to improve comfort and efficiency
A landlord of a HMO (home multiple occupancy) rental was experiencing extremely high gas bills in his rental property and wanted to explore ways these could be reduced.
Notoriously, HMO’s have high bills due to landlords having no control over usage from their tenants but have to pay for all the bills regardless. Our landlord customer sought to find a solution to maintain a comfortable environment for his tenants whilst saving money on energy and reducing the monthly bills.
Ramki’s team designed a new heating system along with a Samsung heat pump (16kw) and gave a heat less calculation to size radiators for each room. We also installed a heatmiser control system so that the landlord could monitor the system remotely.

Pairing the heat pump with a solar system and Tesla battery charging point
Our team were able to then pair the heat pump with a solar system and Tesla battery charging point which enabled a huge 70% reduction in monthly energy bills.
Combined with the £5,000 subsidy from the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, this meant the system had a much shorter payback in addition to making the immediate cost savings. Ramki will now provide annual maintenance to keep within the guidelines of the manufacturer warranty.
